We are a nonprofit organization made up of Marines, Navy FMF Corpsmen, and associate members. We serve the Denton County community through carrying on the history and traditions of the Marine Corps as well as promoting good citizenship and democracy. More importantly, we are here to take care of our own. We serve Marines, Navy FMF Corpsmen and their families in their times of need.

The Detachment’s name honors LCpl Jacob R. Lugo of Flower Mound, Texas. LCpl Lugo gave the ultimate sacrifice on behalf of a grateful nation, on August 24, 2004. He was serving on his second tour in a team leader position with 3rd Battalion, 7th Marines, in the Anbar province of Iraq when he was killed by an explosion.

 The LCpl Jacob R. Lugo Detachment #1300, Department of Texas, Marine Corps League was chartered on March 18, 2008 in Denton, Texas. The detachment is registered with the State of Texas and the federal government as a nonprofit organization.

 All who have served honorably in the U.S. Marine Corps on active duty, for not less than 90 days, currently serving in the U.S. Marine Corps, currently serving in the U.S. Marine Corps Reserve, or served as a U.S. Navy Corpsman who has trained as a Marine FMF Corpsmen are eligible to become members of the Marine Corps League. Those individuals not qualified for regular membership in the Marine Corps League who espouse the principles and purpose of the Marine Corps League as contained in its Congressional Charter may upon application to a detachment be accepted for associate membership in the Marine Corps League.

Killed In Action While Serving His Country
